Please welcome to the world:

John Patrick Chandler!

Born November 4, 2006 at 10:08 EST in Anderson, S.C. 7 lbs. 13 oz. 20 1/4 inches long.

I won't say much because the pictures speak for themselves. Both mom and baby are resting comfortably (they're both asleep as I write). Labor started about 4 a.m. so we're all a little on the tired side. The pediatrician said the baby is "perfect." Liam's first meeting with him was a little cool, but I can't blame him. I still remember the nightmares I had when Geoffery was born (no offense, Peeg--I was only two when I tried to get our parents to flush you down the toilet. I'd never suggest that now). Enjoy. I'll post more photos later.

If anyone is still checking this blog (you know, for the bi-monthly or so post)I invite you to check out Liam's blog. Meghan has posted "A Day in the Life of Liam," which she shot earlier this week. Go there now to see what young Liam is up to an an average day with his Mama!

So, yeah, school has started. It's been busy but great. The students this year seem like they'll be a good group. Yearbook, too, looks like a good staff.

When I came home from school today, Meghan was in her bathroom getting ready to go somewhere (I didn't know where). When I looked inquizative, she informed me that we were having dinner with James Bodine. You may (if you are a family member and remember the Sacred Heart days) remember him better as Jamie Bodine. He married a girl named Jamie and now goes by James. I literally cannot remember the last time I saw him. To say it's been 20 years would not be an exaggeration.

He took Meghan, Liam and I out to dinner and we talked forever. He reminded me of things I had long forgotten, such as "The List." This was a list that the 7th grade boys at Sacred Heart made ranking the 7th grade girls in terms of hottness. It was quite scandalous at the time. Girls wanted to know where they were on the list. Meghan, if memory serves, got quite angry at me for participating in its creation. James said he remembered her chewing us all out for "degrading women." There were other things I hadn't thought of for years, and names, too. Names like Trey Bregnard and Fitz Kid. It was great to talk to him. He's recently retired from the Air Force and now works for Catapillar (you should have seen Liam's face when I told him he worked for the company that makes "dirt trucks"). He's based in Atlanta but will be traveling to Greenville at least once a month, so hopefully we'll get to hang out with him more. For Da Peeg, who I think was in the same grade as Jamie's brother Tommy, Tommy is now in the Navy as an aviator. I filled him in on where everyone is and he was glad to hear you're all doing so well.

And now for something completely different:

All I can say is, "It's about time."

And maybe "It's a good thing our Dad doesn't have an iPod."

Que music: "Pressure" by David Bowie (Please make sure it's really "Pressure" and not "Ice, Ice, Baby." We can't have more than one Chandler referencing Vanilla Ice, the universe will implode.)

So, I'm feeling the pressure these days. You see, due to the slackitude with which I approached my posting duties on this particular web publication, a link to this locale was unceremoniously cut from a certain web site maintained by a certain sister-in-law of mine who shall remain nameless. Mind you, I've but two sisters-in-law at this point and time (at least that I've been made aware of), but that's beside the point. So is the fact that the sister-in-law in question has a website whose name mentions "nuggets" and "gold." So is the fact that a link to said site may in fact appear at the top of this page. Really, though, that's all beside the point.

The point is, after a comment someone may have left on a certain website, a link has BEEN RESTORED to this site from that certain someone's blog. However, if my posting is not A) entertaining and B) frequent enough this honor will once again be yanked out of my virtual hands. I certainly hope that I can live up to the high expectations set before me. I know, my site's never been mentioned in any books. No one from CNN has ever left a comment on my site. But one should always strive for greatness. And so I shall. So I shall. I won't name her--we'll call her "Shmacy" to protect her identity--but lets just say that "Shmacy" is watching. Or reading. Or possibly dancing, but that cannot be confirmed at this time. We certainly will do our best here at the Mean Man Chronicle not to disappoint.

He came up to me and said, "You'd better update my website, Daddy-o."

I figure the "-o" stemmed from the fact that he was wearing sunglasses at the time. Anyway, what parent could resist such a request? So, we decided that we'd put regular updates on his website as we vacation in Florida this week. So, be sure to check out Liam's site (link at the top of page-Liam Land) to see what we're up to on St. George Island.

On a side note, I know some of you would like to see photos of Dave's wedding. They're coming. I forgot the card back in the old S.C. so I'll have to tend to that on our return.

Go to Liam's site. Now. It'll be good, I promise.

So THIS is what Mentos are good for! I'm so going to make my students write about this.

What!? WHAT!? A post? ON WILL'S BLOG!?

It's ok. Breathe. Put your head between your legs if you think you may pass out. This is not a dream (well, in as much as the rest of your life is not a dream; I mean-the whole thing could be but we'll not delve into that now). I really am posting. Which should answer my question, does anyone read this site anymore? Why would they, you ask, seeing as how it was last updated A YEAR AGO!

Geesh, you don't have to get upset. So, I must tell you I am posting courtesy a certain David who was married just yesterday to the lovely Donna. I had the good fortune and supreme honor of being one of the groomsmen and recieved the most welcome gift of an AirPort card for my Mac. Now, I can access the web without risking damaging my wife's computer in some fashion. Me and the Windows, we no likey one another too much.

I am teaching summer school at the moment, which means posts may not be as frequent as I would like, but I hope to have more soon. Life has changed a lot in the last year. Of course, most of you who would read this would know that.

I must go. The cat is trying to love the keyboard and I'm growing weary of having to correct her ;lllllll;lllllllll;;kkkkk ... see what I mean?

Post if you read this so I know you still care.
