Tip of the day: if you ever want to make a bunch of Irish-Catholic boys cry, marry off their sister and get their mom to sing “Ave Maria.”

So, Lizzard, our sister, is married. She’s now “in the Hood” as it were since her new husband is named Josh Hood. The wedding was beautiful. The weekend, wonderful. The whole Chandler clan was together. I did my best to soak in every last minute so I would always remember. I got on my wife’s nerves by obsessively shooting photos and video taping every second I wasn’t actually in the wedding. I think the Chandler men cried more than the women. Our cousin, who was the maid of honor (we were all Bridal attendants, NOT bridesmaids, thank you) said to each of us afterwards that she had tissue she never used, but it sure looked like we could use it. Liz lost some buttons off her dress when she and I were moshing on the dance floor. Leave it up to me to break my little sisters wedding dress. She wasn’t mad, though, she thought it was really funny. Josh seems like a great guy. I look forward to knowing him better.

For more on the wedding, see Geoffrey’s journal at http://geoffpartyusa.blogspot.com/ His representation of the wedding is great, and pretty close to what I would write, so it seems silly to duplicate it.

After the wedding, we all the brothers, Stacy and Meghan drove back to Anniston. We ordered Matas (best pizza in the universe) and watched the wedding video with my grandfather, who wasn’t able to attend. It was great. I treasure every second I can spend with family, especially now that we are becoming more and more scattered across the country. David Clark and I used to have a saying. When things seemed to be moving remarkably fast and seemed almost overwhelming, we’d turn to one another and say, “seat belt.” Time to buckle up.
