Life is a delicate balance. The key to happiness not upsetting the balance and having everything come crashing down around you. For example, as I write this a cat happens to be in my lap. This cat, by and large is very sweet and loving but is known to claw the ever living crap out of you if she becomes scared and decides to use you as a launching pad to get a good head start on running away from whatever it was that startled her. There is also a dog, also known to be sweet but who has a weakness for bugging kitties, whose head is in my lap slightly inching ever so slowly and (she thinks at least) ever so slyly towards the aforementioned feline. I must walk the tightrope, making the cat feel safe while trying to figure out what combination of words said in what tone will convince the dog that the slightest movement of her head, even a centimeter closer, could mean horrific and permanent scars on my man parts. If the entry suddenly stops, know that I am writhing in pain on the floor.

Today was relatively uneventful. I shot photos of cub scouts in these things called “cubmobiles” racing them at the Civic Center. These cars are basically like modern versions of the old soap box racers. It was fun but made me jealous that they didn’t have those races when I was a cub scout. I always wanted to drive a soap box racer.

I saw the movie “Sweet Home Alabama” the other day. I was dead set against seeing it thinking it would be full of stereotypes and bad jokes demeaning the state in which I grew up. Jamie Hill, a fellow ‘bama expatriate, said it was good however, so Meghan and I went to see it. It wasn’t bad actually. It did have a hell of a lot of stereotypes, but hey, I did get two good ideas out of it. The first is a saying which I’m anxious to use in conversation but the opportunity hasn’t yet arisen. The saying is this - “You can’t ride two horses with just one ass.” Brilliant. The second idea is actually cool. Stick huge metal rods in the sand on a beach before a thunderstorm so lightning will strike the sand, melting it to glass and making cool shapes. I guess I never really thought about what happens when lightning strikes the beach but that’s just too cool not to try someday.

I read that Da Peeg got through Saturn training relatively unscarred, but he may be at least partially brainwashed judging by the entry. Check it out, there's a link to his page on the left. Plastic cars are good for you. I drive one. I know.
